  1. Where do you get your story ideas from?

    • Hi Charilene! The idea for the ORIGINS books I am currently working on came from a culmination of several ideas converging at once. I had been researching world religions as well as ancient civilizations and I kept coming across the same ideas over and over, although told in a slightly different way. It seemed too much of a coincidence so I continued to dig further. The further I dug into the topics, the more fascinating my jouney became. The main premise of the book kind of hit me all at once one day while I was out in the garden thinking through some of my research findings. It hit me like a ton of bricks. After that I just needed to put together an intensely interesting story that would carry the reader through the learning experience I had, but in a fast paced way to keep things exciting. I hope you check the books out. As you said in your other post, it definitely makes you look at life through new lenses.

  2. The reviews have been great plus I like to read something other than romance once in a while. It seems like the books will make you look at our life through new lenses.

  3. What drew me to book 2 Crossings was wanting to read more about John Mithch fighting his demons and maybe the devil.
My questions for S.E. Meyer is:
Where did you come up with your ideas for these books?
How long did it take you to write each book?
What do you have in the works right now? Book 3 maybe?

  4. What drew me to the books was the idea of John Mitchell fighting his demons and maybe the devil.
My questions for S.E. Meyer is:
Where did you get the ideas for those 2 books?
How long did it take you to write each book?
What’s next for you? Book 3 maybe?

    • This is my blog /Deborah Close

    • Hi There!
I’ll see if I can answer your question in three parts.
1.) The idea for the ORIGINS books I am currently working on came from a culmination of several ideas converging at once.
2.) The first book took me several years to put together. It was a work in progress for a long time as I continued to research the topics. Book two came a little easier since I already had most of the ideas down and I had the story put together in my head. I wrote The Crossing in about eight months from start to finish. A lot of that was editing, cover, art, etc. The bulk of the writing was done this past winter over about four months. During that time I treated it like a full time job and worked at it almost every day.
3.) Yes, next will definitely be book three. I am a bit conflicted though. I have another idea for a great book that I am anxious to start writing but I also want to get started on the third book in the ORIGINS series. I guess we’ll see which story is more eager to get out of my head first. 🙂
      Thanks for your interest!

  5. Whats drawn me to wanting to read these books is how is its so different from the other books I’ve been hearing about. I love the combination of a real relatable guy and a crazy situation.
My question for S.E. Meyer is how did you come up with the idea for these books? Was it something you just came up with from your head or did something/someone give you the idea?

    • Hi Christin!
You are absolutely right! These books are completly different from anything else out there. It’s a completly new idea and a new premise. To answer your question, I came up with the idea for this book from my head but it wasn’t until I had done years of research on some of the true information that comes out in the book. It kind of just all came together for me and I had a revelation, maybe more of an epiphany, but it hit me and I thought wow, that would make a great story. So I took the premise and wrapped a compelling, believable tale around the true information in the book. What I ended up with was a story that was better than I could have even hoped for. I’m very passionate about the information in the book and I think that came out in the writing. I hope you take the chance to read them, I’m sure you’ll be glad you did.

  7. So many of religion’s concepts are very similar, leading back to the idea of one God, with as many interpretations as there are people. Curiosity leading to potential disaster is always interesting, too. The fight between good and evil, does the Devil exist? You have so many great themes running through these books! What else have you written and in what genres?

    • This is a great conversation starter Michelle. Would you mind if I post your comments to the S.E. Meyer facebook page? You’re absolutely right. There are so many themes on several different levels. I find this definitely makes for a very interesting and thought provoking story. To answer your question, the ORIGINS series of books are the only ones currently published, however, based on the success and reviews the books have been receiving there will be more books to come, both in this series and stand alone novels. I have a psychological thriller and a general fiction novel on paper that I hope to have out in the next year or so.

  8. The awesome reviews make me want to read them.

How do you decide what to name your characters?

    • Some of the characters are based on Biblical names like John and his brother James or Hosea. Others I just pictured the character and decided, based on their description what their name should be. Then there are the Annunaki names that actually come from the ancient Sumerian writings like Enki, Enlil, Inanna and Ninti. Braedon and Traedon I made up because their Annunaki names from the Sumerian God list were a little too strange and I thought it would detract from the story if someone had to read the name Uggae a hundred times. 🙂

  9. What drew me is the excitement and mystery. I can read a lot of summaries and already know what is going to happen, the major parts. I can’t imagine what will happen in this one.

Did you model any characters after anyone in real life?

    • I wouldn’t say any of the characters are solely based on one individual or another, however I do inject certain aspect or personality traits into the characters based on people I know or have met in the past.

  10. Where did the idea of this series come from? Love books like this! Seems very interesting and thought provoking

  11. Congratulations to the winners of the Rafflecopter Contest Giveaway. A copy of Origins and The Crossing has been sent to Carrie M., Kevin M., and Michelle G. Thanks to everyone who participated!!!
